On Friday, March 29th the Abbott Library was filled with the energy from Sunapee area children who came to participate in the annual Read-A-Thon. Armed with blankets, sleeping bags, pajamas, teddy bears, and of course, books, the children participated in quiet time reading and read-a-loud story times, all for raising money from sponsors to support the Abbott Library.
During several breaks, the kids indulged in yummy snacks and fun games to get them moving and interacting. They had a great time bouncing around balloons and building comfy forts to continue their reading time.
All in all, the children raised over $400.00 and enjoyed having the library to themselves after-hours! Everyone is looking forward to doing next year’s Read-A-Thon in the new Abbott Library which is being built just up the street. Donations are still be accepted for the New Library Project.
